What Is Botulinum Toxin?
Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows in adults.

How Does Botulinum toxin work?
Botulinum toxin targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. The doctor will inject these muscles with Botulinum toxin to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet lines and frown lines between your brows.
Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes that can occur over time, reduction of collagen, or damage caused by free radicals in the sun and the environment. When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow’s feet.

WHO ADMINISTERS THE TREATMENT?
At Cosmedic clinic, your botulinum  toxin will only ever be administered by a Specialist trained Doctor.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I HAVE THE TREATMENT?
At your initial consultation, prior to your treatment, you will meet with our Specialist doctor, Dr Azizah who will answer your questions and assess your suitability to proceed and agree the areas you want treated. Dr Azizah may recommend for dermal fillers for deeper lines and wrinkles. You will then be booked in for your treatment at a time most convenient to you.

The treatment, administered by Dr Azizah, is injected directly into the wrinkles which results in temporarily relaxing the facial muscles and preventing the formation of wrinkles, whilst existing lines are softened. Because a very fine needle is used, most patients find that there is only mild and temporary discomfort. The entire procedure usually takes no longer than 15 minutes and during this time Dr Azizah will discuss with you the results which you can expect to see and advise repeat treatments that will be suitable for you.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
The treatment will take around 15 minutes and there is no down-time. Immediately following your treatment you are advised to avoid exercise and hot baths to prevent sweating out the protein. We also recommend avoiding massaging or rubbing the area for 24hours after the botulinum toxin has been injected.
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
Botulinum toxin treatments are ideal for anyone who has concerns about forehead creases, frown lines or crows feet. The treatment still allows expressions to show on the face which is why many patients feel they do not have to tell work colleagues, friends or partners that they are having treatments. Many people choose to have line & wrinkle treatments to look fresher, less tired, less stressed and ultimately younger. WHAT, IF ANY, ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
Side effects of botulinum toxin treatments are rare - indeed it is one of the safest Cosmetic procedures available.
However, there is the possibility of inadequate injection technique resulting in the treatment being injected or dispersed by massaging the area, this can cause a temporary weakness and is why it's so important to have your treatment at a clinic which is registered by the Ministry Of Health.
When the treatment begins to work, you may notice some temporary strange "sensations" around the treated areas as the muscles that have not been injected adjust. Some patients may experience some tenderness, mild redness, swelling or bruising follow the treatment but these are only short-term effects that last a few days.
